Internal Notes

For the Pharmacy Technicians, they don't have to have investigational experience, they can train them on that. they will not be working with IV's. They can train them on the basics. They will start labeling the drugs. They are looking for someone that pays attention to detail and documentation those are 2 main key factors that they need to have. They are looking for someone that is energetic, able to learn quickly, someone that is very helpful, eager to learn, pays attention to detail and provides documentation. What the Pharmacy Techs do is they first receive the drugs from the supplier/manufacturer. They then match it to the packing kit making sure that it's the right drug and the right quantity. They then monitor the device to make sure the shipment is within range. They have to store the drugs and monitor the temperature closely, they then label each vial or bottle correctly. Their job is extensive and tedious. They have to transfer the drugs from the Investigational pharmacy to the central pharmacy to the IV Room. When transferring they need to make sure that they use the proper containers. If the drug is refrigerated, they need to make sure that they use an ice bag. If the drug is frozen, they need to make sure that they use dry ice. Again, their job is repetitive. The hours are M-F and their hours are set. No nights, no weekends. The pharmacy is open from 7am-5:30pm. The pharmacy tech hours are 8a-4:30p.
