Join our team as a Sterile Processing Tech in Bethesda, Maryland, at a leading government facility. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a research setting, ensuring the highest standards of sterilization and infection control are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Soaking, rinsing, and use of ultrasonic equipment for cleaning instruments.
  • Loading and operating pre-sterilizers and other cleaning equipment.
  • Periodically testing equipment for effectiveness of sterilization.
  • Receiving sterilized trays, sets, packs, items, and equipment from the sterilizer, checking for effectiveness of sterilization.
  • Attaching labels on sterilized materials indicating date of sterilization and expiration date, and stocking shelves with sterilized materials.
  • Operating all required equipment and machinery accurately and safely, preparing, assembling, and sterilizing instruments and supplies according to sterilization parameters in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI, and AORN standards.
  • Maintaining appropriate records and monitoring quality control and infection control standards.
  • Providing asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility.
  • Accurately handling and caring for instruments, including selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, and inspection for function.
  • Correctly peel-packing supplies/instruments, wrapping instruments for sterilization, and inspecting each instrument for use, function, completeness, and cleanliness.
  • Ensuring safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhering to all FSC policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Reporting damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Clinical Director and Material Manager and following the process for replacement.
  • Cleaning, setting up, sterilizing, and distributing instruments as scheduled on each shift.
