Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Travel RN specializing in Med Surg in Alexandria, LA. This contract position focuses on providing exceptional care to post-surgical patients, including those recovering from orthopedic and general surgeries, as well as neuro populations. Your expertise will be vital in delivering quality nursing care in a dynamic environment.

Type of Patients: MedSurg focus is on post-surgical patients, including orthopedics and general surgery, with an emphasis on neuro populations. EPIC experience is a bonus and candidates must be willing to float.

Shift: Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM

Responsibilities:

  • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
  • Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
  • Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
  • Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Job Requirements:

  • Education/Skills: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
  • Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: BLS certification via AHA required; RN License in state of employment or compact.

Work Schedule: 7 PM - 7 AM

Comments: Temp to perm is a possibility. Weekend scheduling based on need, but weekends could be required. No on-call requirement. Nurse/Patient Ratio is 5:1-6:1 depending on staffing. EMR used is Epic. Dress code is ceil blue scrubs.
