Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse in Chesapeake, VA. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a vibrant coastal region, just minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk, known for its outdoor activities and beautiful waterways.
Assignment Details
Cardio Thoracic ICU RN needed for a 13-week assignment with the possibility of extension. Candidates will also care for step-down patients due to the universal bed model. The schedule includes 3x12s or 4x12s, with every other weekend, floating, and holidays required within the contract. Please note that 48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours; indicate your preference at the time of submission. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated. Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays.

Typical ratio: 1:1-2.
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years of experience in CVICU/CTICU; travel experience preferred
- Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions
- Proficiency in Epic; no exceptions

- Strong neuro experience required (post brain surgery, EVD exp/ventriculostomy)
- FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Multi-system organ failure
- CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
- Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
- Impella
- Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
- Post Cardiac Surgery (Not directly from the OR)
- Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention
- Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
- IV insulin protocols
- CVVHD/CRRT
- CVA/Acute Stroke management
- Assist with management of BiPAP, CPAP
- Care of Ventilated Patient
- High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Suctioning (ETT, NT)
- Ventilator Management
- Infection Prevention
- Isolation Precautions/Use of PPE
- Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac
Required Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- ACLS (American Heart Association only)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
