Job Summary: As a Sr. Special Procedures Technologist in the Cardiac Cath Lab, you will perform, assist, and complete cardiac and vascular radiographic examinations. You will conduct active radiographic interventional procedures in the cardiovascular lab using a variety of complicated and sophisticated equipment. Your role will involve operating equipment to produce digital images of designated body portions as ordered by physicians, positioning and instructing patients for examinations, and performing specialized studies. You will provide clinical care efficiently and effectively using a high level of technical and organizational skills as well as critical thinking ability. Additionally, you will model, mentor, and train staff on technical skills and provide input into hiring and promotion decisions for staff.

Job Requirements:

• Education and Work Experience:
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience; Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in radiologic technology or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Preferred
  • Three years' technical experience: Preferred
  • Experience as Special Procedures Technologist: Preferred
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification: Preferred
  • Radiologic Tech (RT) in the state of practice: Required
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per policy: Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per policy: Required
  • Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required
  • Fluoroscopy (FLUORO): Required
  • Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A or Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI): Required

Essential Functions: You will operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce contrast-enhanced radiographs of the heart and cardiovascular system (Angio cardiograms) during cardiac catheterization to aid physicians in diagnostic evaluation and treatment. This includes positioning and immobilizing patients on the examining table, using head and shoulder braces, and following specified protocols. You will assist physicians with specialized procedures, enter technical factors determined by protocol, and activate fluoroscopy and motion picture camera (cinefluorography) to produce images.
