Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Contract RN in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in San Antonio, TX. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing critical care to children with various medical conditions.

Unit Information:

  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Number of Staff: 40
  • Patient Ratios: 2:1, 1:1 for higher acuity, and 3:1 for lower acuity
  • Type of Equipment: Vents, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, GT
  • EMR: Meditech

Typical Hiring Profile:

We are looking for candidates with experience in the PICU who can handle various ICU level of care patients. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Must Have:
    • Intubated/vents experience
    • ICU level of care experience
  • Preferred:
    • ECMO experience (taking care of patients, not the pump)
    • CRRT experience

Typical Procedures Performed:

  • Central line placement
  • Chest tube placement
  • Sedation, LP, intubation

Best Personality Fit: Candidates should be flexible for change, possess good communication skills with the medical team, and maintain a friendly and positive attitude.

Required Certifications:

  • PALS

Floating Areas: All children's units and NICU (PIMC, PSRG, Pedi Hemonc, ER for inpatient holds, PCICU)

Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; no t-shirts allowed.

Unit Guidelines/Policies: A PICU manual will be provided upon arrival, detailing process guidelines for care in the PICU.

Weekends and On Call: Every other weekend requirement.
