Join our team as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department at a leading acute-care hospital in Athol, MA. We are seeking dedicated professionals who can perform a variety of direct and indirect patient care activities based on established standards. This role requires strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills, along with the ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions:

• Assess and reassess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing interventions/plans of care/patient goals.
• Provide patient care based on standards of care, protocols, and established policies and procedures.
• Respect each patient as an individual and provide care that fosters dignity and positive self-regard.
• Provide patient/family teaching based on identified learning needs and barriers to learning.
• Collaboratively plan and prepare patients/families for discharge, incorporating necessary support systems/resources.
• Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by others appropriately.
• Prioritize patient care and seek assistance from appropriate resources as needed.
• Document all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely.
• Provide thorough reports on assigned patients to ensure continuity of care.
• Promote learning for colleagues and self through professional development opportunities.
• Identify risks to patient safety and opportunities to reduce healthcare errors.
• Safely administer medications and intravenous therapy according to protocols.
• Assess patient pain levels and document responses to pain management interventions.
• Perform initial assessments and triage protocols as needed.
• Identify patients at risk for abuse and initiate safety plans as required.
• Maintain knowledge of Disaster Policy and Procedure.
• Recognize normal and abnormal laboratory results and notify physicians of changes.
• Demonstrate skills associated with the care of intubated patients.
• Accurately interpret arterial blood gases and clinical features of impaired gas exchange.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Education: AS in nursing required; BS in nursing preferred.
• Minimum Work Experience: 3-5 years of Emergency Department experience preferred.
• Minimum Licenses and Certifications: Current MA RN license; ACLS upon hire OR active BLS card and obtain AHA ACLS within 60 days; AHA PALS within six months; TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred.
