Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Interventional Radiology department. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where you will provide care for both outpatient and inpatient procedures, including biopsies, UFEs, Kyphoplasties, and more.
Facility Overview: This facility features 492 beds and is recognized as a Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, and Primary Stroke Center. The Interventional Radiology unit includes 7 pre/post bays and 2 procedural suites.
Patient Types: You will care for patients undergoing various procedures such as diagnostic angiograms, interventional arterial and venous procedures, IVC placement, venous thrombectomies, neurological thrombectomies, coilings, aneurysm rupture repair, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.
Patient Ratios: Expect a 1:1 ratio in procedure rooms and up to 1:3 in the pre/post area.
Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS are mandatory for this role.
Skills Required: Experience in ICU care, moderate sedation, arterial line management, medication titration, and chest tube management is essential.
Support on the Unit: You will have the support of a charge nurse and utilize advanced technology, including EMR (Cerner), IV pumps (Plum 360), medication dispensing (Omnicell), and monitors (Spacelabs).
Floating: Floating is limited to other procedural areas if your skill set applies, such as the cath lab pre/post area.
Orientation: Orientation includes 2 shifts in the unit and 1-2 shifts in education/onboarding.
Scheduling: The unit operates routine procedures Monday through Friday from 06:30 to 16:30 and is available for emergencies 24/7. On-call staffing is typically every 4th weekend and 1 night during the week.
Holiday Expectations: Travel staff will be treated equally with core staff regarding holiday coverage, which includes 1 Winter holiday (Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, New Year's) and 1 Summer holiday (July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day).
Approval of Time Off: Time off requests are approved by the manager.
Shift Options: There are two shift types available: 4-10 hour shifts per week with a rotating off day from 06:30-16:30 or 3-12 hour shifts per week with rotating off days.
Additional Notes: Scrub colors can be any color, with green provided for procedures. Parking is available in assigned areas of the hospital parking deck.
