Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery (L&D) unit. This facility is a 172-bed Level II Trauma and Teaching Hospital, recognized as the only Trauma Center in Monterey County and surrounding communities. It was voted “Best Hospital in Salinas Valley” by Salinas Valley Reader’s Choice - 2022.
The L&D unit features 8 Labor Delivery Recovery (LDR) rooms, 2 Triage rooms (serving as Pre-Op for C-Sections), 2 Operating Rooms (OR), and 2 Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) beds. The hospital tends to see a high volume of high-risk patients, particularly due to a significant diabetic population.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing care for patients with a focus on high-risk pregnancies.
- Following AWHONN’s Standards for Professional Registered Nurse Staffing, maintaining a 1:1 ratio for patients who are 6cm or greater dilated, on magnesium or insulin drips, and a 1:2 ratio for all other patients.
- Managing care for patients throughout their entire experience, including scheduled C-Sections.
- Performing external versions and second trimester cerclages during day shifts only.
