Join a leading acute-care hospital in Concord, NC, as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN. Facility Overview: This facility is a Trauma Level III teaching hospital with 457 licensed beds, recognized as a Chest Pain Center and a Stroke Center of Excellence. The hospital is committed to providing high-quality care and offers a Bariatric Center of Excellence.
Unit Information: The MedSurg/Telemetry unit consists of 32 beds, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4-6, and surge times could be 1:7-8. A minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience is required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: You will encounter a variety of cases, including small bowel obstructions, general surgeries (colectomy, nephrectomy, hysterectomy, mastectomy, etc.), kidney stones, pneumothorax, bariatric surgery, rib fractures, hip fractures, joint replacements, and cellulitis.
Required Certifications: Candidates must hold BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications. Skills required include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, NG tube insertion, ostomy care, wound care, continuous bladder irrigation, tube feeds, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
Support within the Department: The unit is supported by a charge nurse available 24/7, along with phlebotomy services, an IV/VAT team, and a resource nurse as staffing allows. Telemetry monitoring is also provided.
Technology/Equipment: Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC), IV pumps (BD Alaris), medication dispensing (Omnicell), and monitoring equipment (Masimo, remote telemetry) is beneficial.
Floating Requirements: Travel nurses may be required to float to other nursing units based on patient care needs and staffing demands. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as nurses will take patients within their scope of practice on any unit.
Scheduling: Expect to work a weekend rotation every other weekend, with no call requirements. Travelers will work 75% of holidays, and requests for time off (RTO) can be approved for up to 6 days, excluding holidays. The schedule cycle is every 6 weeks.
Additional Information: Scrub color is navy, and free parking is available for staff.
