We are seeking a skilled RN - MedSurg/Tele to join our team at a leading acute-care hospital in Charlotte, NC. This facility boasts 874 licensed beds and is recognized as a Level I Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and a commitment to excellence.
Unit Information: The ADTU and Satellite unit consists of 5 med-surg and med-tele units, focusing on decompressing the ED and other specialty areas within the hospital. The units include:
- 6CD ADTU - 19 beds
- Satellite Units – 34 beds
- 3K - 8 beds
- 5A - 12 beds
- 3L - 7 beds
- 1T – 7 beds
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: You will care for adults and geriatrics with common diagnoses including COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF exacerbation, falls with injuries, MVC with injuries, pulmonary embolism, DVT, UTI, pneumothorax, GI bleeds, and CVA.
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 6CD - 1:5-6, acuity dependent (surge staffing could increase ratios up to 1:7-8)
- 3K - 1:4
- 5A - 1:4
- 3L - 1:4
- 1T: 1:4
- LPN (if applicable): All units - 1:4
- CNA: 6CD - 1:6, 3K - 1:8, 5A - 1:6, 3L - 1:7, 1T: 1:7
Required License and Certifications: Candidates must possess BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Skills Required: General Med/Tele skillset including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, and PCA pump management.
Support within the Department: You will work alongside a dedicated team, including CNAs, secretaries, charge nurses, and resource nurses, to ensure optimal patient care. Support services such as phlebotomy and telemetry monitoring are available 24/7.
Technology/Equipment: Familiarity with EMR (Epic), IV Pump (Alaris), and Med dispensing (Omnicell) is preferred.
Floating: Travelers may be required to float within the region and scope of practice. Please see the job posting for dedicated regions and discuss applicable regions.
Orientation: New employees will undergo a departmental orientation lasting 2 days.
Scheduling: Expect a weekend rotation every other weekend with no call. Travelers will work 75% of holidays and can request up to 6 days off, excluding holidays.
