Join our team as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a leading acute-care hospital in Charlotte, NC. We are dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and are looking for skilled RNs to support our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for both seasoned professionals and first-time travelers.

Unit Information:

  • Beds: 36
  • Average Census: 36
  • Minimum Years of Experience Required: 18 months of PCU experience
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:3-4, CNA: 1:9

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • COPD/Pulmonary Diseases
  • Heart Failure
  • Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Renal Failure
  • Sepsis
  • ETOH/CIWA and IVDA
  • Tracheostomies requiring mechanical ventilation
  • Continuous BIPAP/CPAP
  • High flow nasal cannula
  • Hypothermia regulation
  • Titratable IV drips

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

  • Experience with above patient types
  • Experience with trached/vented patients
  • Temporary/transvenous pacemaker experience
  • Cardiac gtt experience
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Chest tubes and trach care
  • Blood products and wound care/dressing changes

Support within the Department:

  • CNA - patient care (ADLs/Vitals/Nutrition/Blood sugar checks) and mobility
  • Charge nurse
  • Virtual Nursing for Admission/Discharge and Virtual Observation
  • Phlebotomy, 24/7
  • IV/VAT Team, 24/7
  • Dedicated Pharmacist
  • Case Manager x 2 per unit
  • MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • RT 24/7 for Nebulizer treatments
  • Nurse Educator
  • Hospitalist, 24/7
  • Intensivist until 12am, then virtual/on-call critical care MD

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Phillips
  • Rover Communication

Floating:

  • Will float within region and scope of practice as needed
  • Travelers will be paid for time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift

  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental
