Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Step Down Registered Nurse in Morgantown, WV. This contract position in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) offers an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from higher acuity settings. With a focus on teamwork and patient-centered care, you will play a vital role in the recovery and well-being of your patients.
As a Step Down RN, you will work 3x12 hour shifts from 07:00 to 19:00, with some weekend shifts required. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies. You will be expected to limit holiday requests to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients in the Step Down Unit.
- Monitor patient vital signs and telemetry readings.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health management and recovery.
Qualifications:
- 1.5-2+ years of nursing experience, specifically in Step Down or Telemetry.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing.
- Certifications required: BCLS, ACLS.
- Skills required: IV start, telemetry, ability to read strips.
Travel experience is not required, and blocked schedules will be considered, with options for weekend blocks (Friday-Sunday or Saturday-Monday). Scrubs will not be provided; please wear burgundy and/or white scrubs. The facility utilizes Cerner for electronic medical records.
