Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Travel RN in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Nashville, TN. This is a contract position offering the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on patient-centered care. Our PCU is known for its supportive culture and teamwork, making it an ideal place for travel nurses looking to make a difference.

Unit Specifics:

  • Number of Beds: 34 in PCU 630 and 25 in PCU 633
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
  • Unit Staffing: 3 techs when full on 630 and 2 techs when full on 633
  • Type of Equipment: Bipaps, high flow O2, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, peritoneal dialysis, wound vacs
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend requirement for contract, 3 12-hour shifts a week
  • Floating Policy: May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
  • Patient Experience Requirements: Hourly rounding on days, every 2 hours on nights, AIDET, and maintaining communication boards

Required Skills:

  • Critical thinking skills
  • EKG rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac drip, insulin drip, and heparin drip
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
  • Peripheral IV skills
  • Advanced skills: ACLS certification required
  • Experience with bipaps, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
  • Experience with stroke and post-cardiac cath care
  • Experience with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes

Procedures Performed on Unit:

  • Peritoneal dialysis
  • Thoracentesis
  • Paracentesis
  • Chest tube insertions
  • Dobhoff/NG tube insertions
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Troubleshooting wound vacs

Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS

Dress Code: Black scrubs
