Assignment Details: Cardio Thoracic ICU RN needed for a 13-week contract with possible extension. Candidates will be caring for step-down patients too because they use the universal bed model.

Schedule: 4x12s, every other weekend, floating, and holidays within the contract are required. 48-hour contracts are available with overtime billed after 48 hours—please indicate the candidate's preference at the time of submission. Cannot accommodate block scheduling! Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays.

Patient Ratios: Typical ratio: 1:1-2.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years experience in CVICU/CTICU; travel experience preferred.
  • Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions.
  • Must be proficient in Epic; no exceptions.

  • Titrate Cardiac drips
  • Titrate Vasoactive drips
  • Strong neuro experience required (post brain surgery, EVD exp/ventriculostomy)
  • FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Multi-system organ failure
  • CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
  • Impella
  • Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
  • Post Cardiac Surgery (Not directly from the OR)
  • Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention
  • Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
  • IV insulin protocols
  • CVVHD/CRRT
  • CVA/Acute Stroke management
  • Assist with management of BiPAP, CPAP
  • Care of Ventilated Patient
  • High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
  • Interpretation of ABGs
  • Suctioning (ETT, NT)
  • Ventilator Management
  • Infection Prevention
  • Isolation Precautions/ Use of PPE
  • Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Required Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association only)
  • ACLS (American Heart Association only)
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
