Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN in the ICU, located in beautiful Cornelius, NC. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced ICU RNs looking to make a difference in patient care. Our facility is known for its supportive environment and commitment to quality healthcare.

Unit Information:

  • 33 Beds
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:1-2, CNA: most times 1:10
  • Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Sepsis, ARDS, GI Bleeds, DKA, Cardiac Arrest, Withdrawal, Renal Failure, etc. (No Cardiac Surgical patients)

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

  • General ICU skillset: Critical care gtts experience (insulin, vasopressors, sedation), management of invasive lines (ART/CVP), Cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, ventilator management, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.

Support within the Department:

  • CNA assistance with turning, feeding, ADLs, blood sugars, lab draws, mobility
  • Charge nurse available 24/7
  • Phlebotomy responsibilities for RN
  • IV/VAT Team and RT available 24/7
  • Hospitalist coverage 24/7
  • Intensivist coverage from 9a-11a

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Unit specific equipment: telemetry monitors, bladder scanner, translator on a stick, virtual cart for rounding with MDs, Stroke Cart

Floating:

  • Within region and scope of practice
  • Will be required to float per regional needs
  • Travelers will be paid for time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift

Orientation:

  • NEO and 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

  • Standardized for Resource Team
  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • No call
  • Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Up to 6 days off, excluding holidays (must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours)
  • Shift times: 7a-7p and 7p-7a
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
