Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN specializing in Labor & Delivery/Postpartum in Shelby, NC. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment with a focus on teamwork and patient care.
Unit Information:
- 8 labor rooms, 3 triage rooms, 1 OR suite, and 1 PACU
- Average of 4 to 6 patients per day
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Labor, Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care
Patient Ratios:
- RN: AWHONN Staffing Guidelines - 1:2 Inactive labor; 1:1 Active Labor; 1:3-4 Couplets
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, EFM, NRP
Skills Required:
- Labor and Delivery Nurse skills - labor management, circulate cesarean sections, Pre-op, PACU, triage, resuscitation of newborns, Pitocin management, epidural management
- Ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
Support within the Department:
- Charge nurse available 24/7
- Phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws
- RT and Hospitalist available 24/7 for newborn care
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Fetal Monitor, Philips Monitor for Newborn
- Unit-specific equipment: Scales, Ultrasound, Ambulation assist device
Floating:
- Will be required to float within region and scope of practice
- Travelers will be paid for time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend
- Call: Possibility of low census call, can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays
