Facility Overview:
- 457 licensed beds
- Trauma Level III
- Teaching Hospital
- Chest Pain Center
- Stroke Center of Excellence
- Bariatric Center of Excellence
Department Information:
- Beds: 10
- Average Daily Census: 8 patients
- Minimum Years of Experience Required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
- First-time Travelers: Not preferred, will consider
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Chest Pain
- Syncope
- Angina
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)
Ratios:
- RN: 1:5
- CNA: 1:10
Skills Required:
- General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc.), PCA pumps
- Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF
Support within the Department:
- Supervisor
- Charge RN - may or may not have patients
- Resource RN - will assist with Admissions/Discharges
- RT, 24/7 - not dedicated to this unit specifically
- Hospitalist, 24/7 - not dedicated to this unit specifically
- Phlebotomy: Combined effort between RNs, IV team
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Omnicell
Floating:
- Within region and scope of practice
- Will be required to float per region needs
- Travelers will be paid for the time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift
Orientation:
- NEO
- 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 0650-1910; 1850-0710
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
