Join a leading acute-care hospital in Concord, NC, as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN. This contract position offers a dynamic work environment where you can make a significant impact on patient care. Unit Information:
- Beds: 14 private rooms - no negative pressure capability
- Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
- First-time travelers: Not accepted
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Cancer (new and existing diagnosis)
- Neutropenic Fever
- Patients requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products
- Medical overflow
- Patients receiving Chemo/Biotherapy - ONS preferred but not required
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:4-5
- CNA: Days - 1:7; Nights - 1:11-14
Required License and Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
- ONS preferred
Skills Required:
- PIV starts, NG Tube placement/management, Pleurx drains, management of various surgical drains, chest tube management
- Comfortability with port accessing preferred but not required - only experienced Oncology RNs will be allowed to do this
Support within the Department:
- CNAs assist nursing team with ADLs, bathing, foley care, mobility, turning and repositioning, trained to do phlebotomy, 12 lead EKGs, Glucometer
- Charge nurse usually has patient assignment
- IV/VAT Team available
- RT and Hospitalist available 24/7 but not dedicated to this unit
- Telemetry monitoring conducted in an off-unit arrhythmia center if tele ordered
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Unit specific equipment: Bladder scanner, EKG machine, transport monitor
Floating:
- Within region and scope of practice
- Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH (peds only))
- Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift (will remain on the clock)
Orientation:
- NEO
- 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No call
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays - must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
