Join a dedicated team at a leading acute-care hospital as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN in Shelby, NC. We are seeking skilled nurses to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Unit Information:
- 32 licensed beds with an average patient census of 32.
- Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required.
- First-time travelers are welcome.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Stroke
- Respiratory Illnesses: Flu/Pneumonia/COVID
- Renal Failure
- Peritoneal Dialysis
- Wounds
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8.
- LPN (if applicable): 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8.
- CNA: 1:10.
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
Skills Required:
- Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone).
- Wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, central line management.
Support within the Department:
- CNA support for ADLs, mobility, and feeding.
- Charge nurse may or may not have patient assignment.
- Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team available 24/7.
- Telemetry monitoring/tech support.
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic.
- IV Pump, Med dispensing, and Monitors available.
- Unit specific equipment: VNO (virtual nursing - 10 cameras).
Floating:
- Required to float within region and scope of practice.
- Travelers will be paid for the time traveling between facilities.
Orientation:
- NEO and 2 days departmental orientation.
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend.
- Call: Possibility of low census call, with potential callbacks.
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
- RTO: Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays.

- Scrub Color: Navy.
