Join a dedicated team at a leading acute-care hospital as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN in Shelby, NC. We are seeking skilled nurses to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. Unit Information:

  • 32 licensed beds with an average patient census of 32.
  • Minimum of 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Stroke
  • Respiratory Illnesses: Flu/Pneumonia/COVID
  • Renal Failure
  • Peritoneal Dialysis
  • Wounds

Patient Ratios:

  • RN: 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8.
  • LPN (if applicable): 1:5-6; surge staffing could have ratios of 1:7-8.
  • CNA: 1:10.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.

Skills Required:

  • Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation.
  • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone).
  • Wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, central line management.

Support within the Department:

  • CNA support for ADLs, mobility, and feeding.
  • Charge nurse may or may not have patient assignment.
  • Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team available 24/7.
  • Telemetry monitoring/tech support.

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: Epic.
  • IV Pump, Med dispensing, and Monitors available.
  • Unit specific equipment: VNO (virtual nursing - 10 cameras).

Floating:

  • Required to float within region and scope of practice.
  • Travelers will be paid for the time traveling between facilities.

Orientation:

  • NEO and 2 days departmental orientation.

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend.
  • Call: Possibility of low census call, with potential callbacks.
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
  • RTO: Up to 6 days off can be approved, excluding holidays.
