Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Stepdown Neuro Registered Nurse in Omaha, NE. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a specialized Progressive Care Unit (PCU) focusing on neurology and neurosurgery. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will provide care for patients with complex neurological conditions.

This position requires RNs to be prepared to float frequently to meet the staffing needs of the hospital. The mixed acuity unit includes a 48-bed capacity, caring for medical surgical patients, specializing in neurology and neurosurgery. You will care for patients with conditions such as strokes, aneurysms, seizures, spinal fusions, and brain and spinal cord tumors.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing care for up to five Med Surg patients.
  • Maintaining patient ratios of 1:5 days/1:6 nights for MS/Tele and 1:3-4 for Stepdown.
  • Administering drips as required on all floors.
  • Utilizing EPIC charting for patient documentation.

Qualifications:

  • 2 years of prior experience in a large, urban hospital.
  • First timers are not accepted unless they have 2 years of experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center.
  • Must be willing to float within scope to meet facility needs, including potentially floating to the Bellevue campus.
  • 100% NICOTINE FREE FACILITY.

Additional details:

  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's).
  • RTO Restrictions: Up to two weeks of RTO permitted; must be submitted with application.
  • Locals Accepted: No (candidates must be more than 100 miles from the facility).
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes, but must have license in hand at the time of submission to avoid booking delays.

Scrubs are mandatory; RNs will wear Steele gray scrubs with the Nebraska Medicine logo. Information on obtaining these scrubs will be provided once confirmed. Parking permits are available for approximately $55/month or daily rate parking at $3 for 20 hours.
