Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Altoona, PA. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide essential patient care and support services in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Job Summary
As a CNA, you will provide routine patient care and support services in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by the nurse or physician to ensure the highest degree of quality care is provided at all times.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care as directed by the RN and LPN including all activities of daily living such as bathing, feeding, dressing, transporting, toileting, and ambulating residents.
- Maintain an environment conducive to patient safety and recovery including, but not limited to, completing safety checks, keeping the department and patient rooms clean and organized, cleaning department-specific equipment, changing bed linens, emptying linen hampers, keeping hallways clear of equipment, and returning equipment to proper storage.
- Respond to patient needs and calls in a timely manner.
- Acquire and distribute supplies and equipment to facilitate care delivery.
- Deliver patient nourishments and assist with feeding as needed; fill water pitchers.
- Perform routine tests such as weights, vital signs, and Intake & Outputs.
- Provide feedback to the RN/LPN regarding patient care and report changes in resident status in a timely manner.
- Document in the medical record according to established procedures.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures including standard precautions and understand policies and procedures for blood borne pathogen exposure.
- Strictly adhere to all policies and practices relative to patient care and facility-related information.
- Respond within the scope of the nursing assistant role to emergent situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
Education and Knowledge Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
- 2 years of experience is required.
