Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN in the Emergency Department (ED) in Winston-Salem, NC. With a Level 1 Trauma Designation and a commitment to excellence, this facility is dedicated to delivering high-quality healthcare.
Facility Overview:
- 885 licensed beds
- Teaching Hospital: Academic Medical Center
- Chest Pain Center, Burn Center, and Stroke Center
Unit Information:
- 55 horizontal beds, 6 vertical beds, 15 observation beds, 5 behavioral health holding beds
- Average patient census: 200-220 patients/day
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers accepted only with 3+ years of Level 1 trauma center experience
- Unit currently undergoing renovations with a new trauma center design
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Fast-paced unit receiving various trauma cases, including GSWs, stabbings, multi-trauma, MVC, MI, CVA, hypothermia, drownings, falls, and more
- Patient ratios: RN 3:1, 4:1, 5:1, 6:1 based on clinical area or acuity
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (Resource Team Requirements)
Skills Required:
As a skilled and compassionate RN, you will play a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. You will utilize evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and effective communication to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum.
Support within the Department:
- ED Tech for ADLs, vital signs, I/O cath, foley placement, phlebotomy
- Unit Secretary and Charge Nurse
- 24/7 Critical Care Pharmacists, Paramedic Staff, and Hospitalist
- Telemetry monitoring available
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: Epic
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Phillips
- Unit specific equipment: GE Ultrasounds for point of care, GE EKG machines
Orientation:
- NEO and 2 days departmental orientation
