Join a leading acute-care hospital in Concord, NC, as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a supportive and dynamic environment, with a focus on teamwork and accountability. You will be part of a facility that is licensed for 457 beds and recognized as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, and Bariatric Center of Excellence.

Department Information:

  • Average patients/day: 51
  • Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience
  • First-time travelers are welcome!

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Chronic diseases
  • CHF specialty area
  • Mental Health and Addiction Services
  • Patients requiring 6 weeks of IV antibiotics
  • COPD, DM, Wounds, Geriatric care

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Driver's License and/or Insurance may be required

Patient Ratios:

  • RN: 1:4-6, acuity dependent; surge times could increase to 1:7-8

Skills Required:

  • General Med/Tele skillset
  • Cardiac rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
  • Care of patients with tubes/drains
  • IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes

Support within the Department:

  • Nurse Manager
  • Administrative Clinical Supervisor
  • Clinical Supervisor
  • Staff RNs, CNA, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, House Supervisor

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • Department specific equipment: scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, tele-medicine cart for online assessments of patients, doppler

Floating: Travel nurses will be the first to float to other nursing units and provide flexible staffing support based on patient care needs and staffing demands. They will demonstrate adaptability and clinical flexibility when floating to other units, taking patients within their scope of practice on any unit (e.g., MedSurg assignment in ICU, MedSurg holds in ED). Travelers may be required to float per regional needs to various facilities within the region.

Orientation: Includes NEO and 2 days departmental training.

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • No call required
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Up to 6 days off, excluding holidays (must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours)
  • Shift times: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700
  • Schedule cycle: 6-week schedules
