Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN in the MedSurg/Telemetry unit in Shelby, NC. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a supportive team. We are seeking dedicated professionals with a passion for patient care and a commitment to excellence.

Unit Information:

  • Beds: 24
  • Average Daily Census: 24
  • Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5-6 (Day and Night), with surge staffing ratios of up to 1:7-8
  • CNA: 1:12

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Various diagnoses including Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, etc.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills Required:

  • Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation and experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone)
  • General medical/surgical skillset: care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.

Support within the Department:

  • CNA – 1:12 ratio
  • Charge nurse available as a resource for staff
  • Phlebotomy and IV/VAT Team support
  • RT, 24/7 availability
  • Hospitalist on site Dayshift; Virtual in evenings/overnight
  • Intensivist, 24/7 availability
  • Telemetry monitoring – remote with Tele tech

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC (at least 6 months experience required)
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Massimo in all rooms

Floating:

  • Within region and scope of practice; required to float to all facilities as needed
  • Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities if floating mid-shift

Orientation:

  • NEO: 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • Call: Possibility of low census call, can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays
  • Shift times: 0645-1915; 1845-0715
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
