Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) in Charlotte, NC! This is an exciting opportunity for experienced RNs looking to make a difference in the lives of critically ill children. The facility is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and a Teaching Hospital, offering a supportive environment focused on teamwork and compassion.
Unit Information:
- 24 licensed beds with an average patient census of 21-23.
- Required Experience: 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience.
- Patient Types/Common Diagnoses: Respiratory issues, trauma, DKA, seizures, neurosurgical cases, acute/chronic renal failure, orthopedic, surgical, transplants, complex medical cases, and blood disorders.
- Patient Ratios: Varies on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2.
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- RN License.
- BLS and PALS certifications.
Skills Required:
- EPIC experience.
- Experience with Artic Sun, EVDs, Camino device, Belmont Rapid Infuser, and management of critical care vasoactive drip titration.
- Management of invasive lines, aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management, and more.
- Ability to float to Pediatric CVICU as needed.
Support within the Department:
- 1 Health Care Tech per day to support unit secretary duties and nursing needs.
- Unit Secretary, Charge Nurse, Phlebotomy, IV/VAT Team, and Intensivist available 24/7.
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC.
- IV Pumps: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps.
- Med dispensing: Omnicell.
- Monitors: Phillips.
Orientation:
- 2 days departmental orientation.
Scheduling:
- No call for travelers; may be floated to PCVICU, Peds Progressive, NICU, or general Peds units as needed.
- RTO requires manager approval.
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks.
