Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) in Seattle, WA. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a high-risk, high-volume environment, providing essential care to mothers and newborns during the labor and delivery process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for midwifery clients and private OBs, ensuring high-quality support during deliveries.
  • Float to sister facilities that handle Mother/Baby care as needed, including postpartum and antepartum units.
  • Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery, continuing care of the newborn until transfer to postpartum.
  • Administer medications such as Heparin, Insulin, and Magnesium Sulfate, and perform newborn assessments.
  • Maintain adherence to AWHONN guidelines for staffing and patient care.

Patient Diagnoses: You will encounter a variety of cases, including those requiring adult recovery services and support for substance recovery.

Unit Details:

  • High-risk, high-volume Labor & Delivery unit with an average daily census of 15 patients and 500-600 deliveries per month.
  • Unit consists of 31 beds and 4 operating rooms.
  • Schedule is posted every 6 weeks to meet the unit's needs.

Certifications:

  • Required: BLS, NRP
  • Preferred: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate

We welcome applications from candidates with at least 1 year of experience in Labor & Delivery, particularly those with high-risk experience. First-time travelers are accepted, and pre-approved time off will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please note that floating to postpartum and antepartum units is required, and you must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed.
