MRI Technologist

Join a leading acute-care hospital as an MRI Technologist in Charlotte, NC. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on patient care and advanced imaging technology. About the Facility:

  • Total licensed beds: 373 (344 Acute & 29 Inpatient Rehab)
  • Emergency Department: 30 beds
  • ICU: 46 beds
  • PCU: 40 beds
  • Observation: 70 beds
  • Operating Room Suites: 14
  • Accreditations: TJC Stroke accredited

Department Information:

  • Average Inpatient Census: around 400
  • Average studies performed: 33 studies/day
  • Minimum Years of Experience required: 1 year
  • First-time travelers are accepted

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • ED, Inpatient units, Observation units, and Outpatient
  • Large population of medical device patients
  • Department performs cases with Anesthesia as needed
  • Cardiac MRI available Monday-Friday, day shift

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • ARRT(R) or NMTCB, ARRT(MR) or ARMRIT
  • BLS certification
  • State Licensure is not required

Skills Required:

  • Examine requests and verify orders on each patient.
  • Identify patients using two identifiers and assist them with procedure explanations.
  • Interview patients for complete medical history and review EMRs.
  • Prepare and administer IV contrast according to departmental protocols.
  • Evaluate technical quality of images and consult with a Radiologist as needed.
  • Perform basic patient care functions and inform nursing personnel of changes in condition.
  • Maintain knowledge of MRI safety requirements for staff and patients.
  • Operate radiology computer systems and document contrast administration.

Support within the Department:

  • Guest Services/Transport for IP, Obs, ED patients
  • Tech assistant on overnight shifts

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC
  • RIS: Epic Radiant
  • PACS: Philips iSite
  • Department specific Equipment: Siemens Vida #T, GE SIGNA Artist 450W Floating

Orientation:

  • Administrative onboarding (Epic, eLearnings, policy review, etc.) – 1 day
  • 2 days to 1 week departmental (as needed)
