Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN in the Operating Room (OR) in Cornelius, NC. This contract position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with a focus on patient-centered care.

Unit Information:

  • 3 Operating Rooms
  • Average Census: Around 10 patients per day
  • Minimum 3 years of acute OR experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Mostly adult patients, with some pediatric ENT cases
  • Procedures include General, GYN, ortho (total joints, ORIFs, sports medicine upper extremity), and urology
  • Robotic surgery experience with Medtronic Hugo is preferred but not required

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current RN License
  • BLS Certification
  • ACLS Certification

Skills Required:

  • Experience with the above patient types
  • Ability to circulate; preference for candidates who can scrub
  • Comfortable working independently as the only RN on callback
  • EPIC experience is required

Support within the Department:

  • Charge RN available (not on callback)
  • Leader available via phone after hours
  • Administrator for the hospital available
  • Scheduler for scheduled cases
  • 5-6 RNs and 4-5 Surgical Techs during the day
  • Anesthesiologist/CRNA available 24/7
  • RT available 24/7
  • Hospitalist available 24/7

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC (required)
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: Call only
  • On-call: 1 weeknight call per week, 1830-0630
  • Every 5th weekend, Saturday 0630-Monday 0630
  • 30-minute callback time
  • Holiday Expectations: 50% of holidays, call only
  • Approval of RTO through the manager
  • Shift times: 10-hour shifts from 0630-1700, rotating day off each week
  • Schedule cycle: 6-week increments
