Join a leading acute-care hospital as an RN in the Pediatric CVICU. This position offers an incredible opportunity to work in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, recognized for its excellence in Congenital Cardiology. As a vital member of the healthcare team, you will provide care to a very high acuity patient population, ages 0-18 years old, including patients with congenital heart differences, those undergoing surgery, and those requiring medical management for pre- and post-transplant care.

Unit Information:

  • 20 beds, divided into two mirrored sides with a centralized nurses station.
  • Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 2:1, 1:1, 1:2.
  • Support staff includes 1 Health Care Tech per day and a Unit Secretary on every shift.

Required Experience:

  • 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similar facility.
  • Willingness to accept first-time travelers.

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Patients with congenital heart differences, post-operative care, and those requiring advanced support such as ECMO, Impella, and renal replacement therapy.

Required Licensure & Certifications:

  • BLS, PALS, NIHSS.

Skills Required:

  • Experience with fresh open heart post-operative patients and transplant experience.
  • Familiarity with devices such as Aquadex, Impella, and ECMO.
  • EPIC experience is required.
  • Ability to float to PICU as needed.

Support within the Department:

  • Charge nurse and resource nurse are available to assist.
  • 24/7 access to RT, cardiologist, and intensivist.

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC - required.
  • IV Pump: Alaris.
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell.
  • Monitors: Phillips.

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend or fewer as needed.
  • Call requirement based on previous date.
  • Travelers will work 75% of holidays.
