Join our team as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN at a leading acute-care hospital in Shelby, NC. We are looking for dedicated healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This contract position offers an opportunity to work with a variety of patient diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, and neuro cases.

Unit Information:

  • Beds: 24
  • Average Daily Census: 24
  • Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
  • First-time travelers are welcome!

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

  • Various diagnoses – Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, etc.

Patient Ratios:

  • RN: 1:5-6 (Day and Night) - in surge staffing could see ratios of up to 1:7-8
  • CNA: 1:12

Required Licensure & Certifications:

  • RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Skills required:

  • Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), general medical/surgical skillset – care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.

Support within the Department:

  • CNA – 1:12 ratio
  • No HUC
  • Charge nurse – may have patient assignment, always a resource for staff
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV/VAT Team
  • RT, 24/7
  • Hospitalist – on site Dayshift; Virtual in evenings/overnight
  • Intensivist, 24/7
  • Telemetry monitoring – remote with Tele tech

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: EPIC - at least 6 months experience required
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Med dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Massimo in all rooms

Floating:

  • Within region and scope of practice
  • Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
  • Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
  • If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation:

  • NEO
  • 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: every other
  • Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
  • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
  • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
  • Shift times: 0645-1915; 1845-0715
  • Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
