Join our team as a MedSurg/Telemetry RN at a leading acute-care hospital in Shelby, NC. We are looking for dedicated healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This contract position offers an opportunity to work with a variety of patient diagnoses, including cardiac, respiratory, and neuro cases.
Unit Information:
- Beds: 24
- Average Daily Census: 24
- Minimum Years of Experience required: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience
- First-time travelers are welcome!
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Various diagnoses – Cardiac, Respiratory, Neuro, etc.
Patient Ratios:
- RN: 1:5-6 (Day and Night) - in surge staffing could see ratios of up to 1:7-8
- CNA: 1:12
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
- Basic Med/Tele skillset: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), general medical/surgical skillset – care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.
Support within the Department:
- CNA – 1:12 ratio
- No HUC
- Charge nurse – may have patient assignment, always a resource for staff
- Phlebotomy
- IV/VAT Team
- RT, 24/7
- Hospitalist – on site Dayshift; Virtual in evenings/overnight
- Intensivist, 24/7
- Telemetry monitoring – remote with Tele tech
Technology/Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC - at least 6 months experience required
- IV Pump: Alaris
- Med dispensing: Omnicell
- Monitors: Massimo in all rooms
Floating:
- Within region and scope of practice
- Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
- Region 3 - Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
- If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
Orientation:
- NEO
- 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation: every other
- Call: Possibility of low census call. Can be called back up to 3a for Nights and up to 3p for Days
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
- RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
- Shift times: 0645-1915; 1845-0715
- Schedule cycle: every 6 weeks
