Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Charlotte, NC. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and Teaching Hospital, known for its commitment to high-quality patient care.

- Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center
- Chest Pain Center
- Certified Stroke Center
Unit Information:
- Beds: 53 plus overflow; average patient census is 58
- Patient Ratios: Varies on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, 1:3
Required Experience:
- 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience
- Must be comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
- Manager approval required for first-time travelers
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
- Respiratory Distress Syndrome, TTN (Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn), MAS (Meconium Aspiration), Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
- Congenital Heart Defects (TOF, VSD, HLHS), PDA, Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of the Newborn (PPHN)
- Seizures, IVH, Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy
- Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), Feeding Intolerance, GER, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, Birth Trauma, Congenital Anomalies, Sepsis, NAS, TORCH infections, Hypothermia, Hypoglycemia
Required Licensure & Certifications:
- RN: BLS, NRP
Skills Required:
- EPIC experience, management of critical care vasoactive drip titration, management of invasive lines (ART lines/CVP)
- Aseptic and sterile techniques, basic dressing changes, ventilator and trach management
- Feeding tube management, chest tubes, epidurals, PCAs, sedation and analgesic drip management
- Foley insertion and management, bedside procedures with providers
- CRRT experience, baby side of ECMO (manager has been flexible on EVD, ICP, ECMO, and CRRT experience)
Support within the Department:
- Unit Secretary every shift
- Charge nurse, 24/7
- IV/VAT/PCVC Team, 24/7
- Resource Nurse, RT, Intensivist, and Residents in house
- Centralized and bedside Tele monitoring
- Unit Based Educators (AM and PM), Clinical Supervisors x 6
Orientation:
- NEO, 2 days departmental
Scheduling:
- Weekend rotation required: 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend (Sat/Sun) every 6-week schedule
- No call for travelers; may float to similar units as needed
- Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work holidays as scheduled
- RTO: Manager approval preferred for minimal RTO needs
Dress Code:
- Scrub Color: Navy; solid Navy or White long sleeve shirts allowed
- No tight scrubs or other organizational branded attire
- Practice Guidelines: Bare Below Elbow in nurseries
