Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department (ER) in Montgomery, AL. We are seeking dedicated and skilled RNs to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. This contract position offers an opportunity for first-time travelers and experienced professionals alike.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience with Cerner or EPIC and Level I or II Trauma experience. Candidates with 3+ years of Level III Trauma experience at a 300+ bed facility will also be considered.
  • For experienced travelers: Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience (ICU, ER) with the most recent year in a Level I or II ER.
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted), NIHSS, TNCC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for patients with multi-system trauma, STEMI, STROKE, CHF, COPD, GI, GU, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, and Psychiatric conditions.
  • Maintain patient ratios of 1:4 in the ER, 1:5 in Med-Surg Holds, and 1:3 in ICU Holds.
  • Perform skills such as trach care, vent care, ICU drip care and maintenance, chest tube management, arterial line care, and more.

Support on the Unit:

  • CNA support with a ratio of 1:12.
  • Charge nurse and receptionist available on the unit.
  • Phlebotomy support available until 0300.
  • IV/VAT Team support and Hospitalist available.

Technology/Equipment:

  • EMR: Cerner
  • IV pumps: Plum 360
  • Medication dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Spacelabs

Scheduling:

  • Weekend rotation: Every other or 4 weekend days per month if on block schedule.
  • Shift times: 7a-7p, 7p-7a, 11a-11p, 3p-3a.
  • Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy.

Travelers new to the facility or those returning after 1+ years will have 24 hours of classroom time and 24 hours on the unit for orientation. Rehires will have orientation based on their last date of employment.
